Course Description: In this course, students will explore theatre, a unique form of expression that is both craft and art. Students will consider what theatre is, the relationship of theatre to society and the individual, and how theatre provides a necessary function in exploring the human condition. Students will be introduced to foundational elements of acting, improvisation, pantomime, audition skills, script analysis, theatre history, technical theatre, and playwriting. Theatre Arts 1 is intended to broadly survey diverse theatre expressions throughout history while practicing foundational performance skills.
